APPLE'S TO STARS: FARMINGTON'S BITE AT STATEHOOD
Explore Farmington at the time of Statehood. Learn about everyday life during the early years of Farmington, the orchard industry of this little town, and fun facts about Farmington’s past. FROM DINOSAURS TO DRILL BITS
This exhibit highlights the oil and gas story of the San Juan Basin. Using the latest in technology this exhibit educates and entertains visitors about an amazing resource we use every day. Experience the thrill of riding deep into the earth in search of oil on a simulated ground quaking adventure! Learn what it takes to drill thousands of feet looking for black gold, then discover how it's transformed into consumer products. This exhibit is on display at the Farmington Museum, Gateway Park Museum & Visitors Center, 3041 E. Main St., Farmington.

THREE WATERS TRADING POST EXHIBIT
The Three Waters Trading Post exhibit features a walk-through replica of a 1930’s trading post, including a bull pen stocked with period goods and artifacts, pawn room and office showcasing jewelry and rugs. The exhibit is on display at the Farmington Museum in the Gateway Park Museum & Visitors Center, 3041 E. Main St., Farmington.

THE MASTER WEAVERS
This exhibit of Todalena/Two Grey Hills textiles will be on display through May 2013 at the Historic Toadlena Trading Post and Weaving Museum. This authentic 102 year-old trading post supports the local weaving community and this exhibition showcases the best of their efforts, both past and present. The show also celebrates the long awaited publication of the highly acclaimed book of the same title, The Master Weavers, by Toadlena trader, Mark Winter. Toadlena’s history is steeped in the past with an eye on maintaining the region's weaving tradition well into the future. BIRD WATCHING RIVERSIDE NATURE CENTER
Enjoy bird watching and a beautiful walk through Farmington’s riverside trails every Tuesday morning. More than 100 species of birds have been noted throughout Animas Park and new birds fly in each season. Meet at the Riverside Nature Center, located in Animas Park off Browning Parkway, to join the friendly RNC staff for leisurely walk of 1-2 miles.

THE 16TH ANNUAL CASPER BACA BARES, BRONCS & BULLS SPECTACULAR RODEO
The San Juan County Fairgrounds hosts this “Spectacular Rodeo” annually where more than 200 rough stock riders compete for prizes.  Rodeo begins at 7 p.m. in the McGee Park Memorial Coliseum, located between Farmington and Bloomfield on Hwy 64.

JANUARY 6 – 8, 13 – 14
THEATER ENSEMBLE ARTS - MOONLIGHT AND MAGNOLIAS
David O. Selznick is three weeks into shooting Gone with the Wind, the script just isn’t working. His solution? Fire the director, pull Victor Fleming off the Wizard of Oz, and lock himself, Fleming and script doctor Ben Hecht in his office for five days until they have a screenplay. With only peanuts and bananas to sustain them, they work through and act out Margaret Mitchell’s bestseller and in the process make movie history. Performance in the San Juan College Little Theatre at 7:30 p.m. and a 2:30 p.m. matinee on Sunday.

JANUARY 7
MOONLIGHT WALK
The river parks are especially beautiful in the evening, so join the Riverside Nature Center staff on this walk by the light of the moon from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The group may be able to see deer and nocturnal animals on this two-mile stroll along the woodland trails and sparkling river. Dress warmly, and bring a flashlight.  All ages are welcome, but children should be old enough to understand walking silently.  No pets, please.

MAKING TRACKS
Take a walk through Animas Park looking for tracks and traces of the animals that live there from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. If weather permits, make a plaster cast of a track to take home. Riverside Nature Center staff and volunteers will help everyone learn more about the wildlife of the park.

WEDDING EXPO
This annual Expo brings businesses and vendors specializing in wedding necessities, accessories and services from throughout the region to Farmington, the perfect event for future brides and bridesmaids. Expo held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the San Juan College Henderson Fine Arts Center. There will be a fashion show at 3 p.m. and “Battle of the Brides” contests throughout the day. Admission is free.

STARS AND STORIES
Learn winter stars, constellations, and the myths which help remember them on a walk of about two miles through Animas Park with staff from the Riverside Nature Center from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Dress warmly, in boots and jackets, and bring a flashlight.  Binoculars are helpful. Children should be old enough to understand listening quietly. No pets, please.

WILLIAM SHERLE "OLD BILL" WILLIAMS
Larry Marken presents William Sherle “Old Bill” Williams as part of the Chautauqua Series Teaching American History Grant. The colorful adventuresome mountain man preached, trapped, traded, scouted for military expeditions, guided wagon trains and served as a Native American interpreter. The program begins at 7 p.m. in the San Juan College Little Theatre.

A CHOCOLATE AFFAIR

The board for People Assisting the Homeless (P.A.T.H.) is sponsoring a benefit to assist the non-profit organization serving homeless and underprivileged individuals and families in San Juan County. This is a fund raiser to provide the shelter with operating funds. The chocolate extravaganza will be held at the Farmington Civic Center from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Admission: $15 per person or 2 for $25.

WORLD HERTIAGE 25TH ANNIVERSARY
The Aztec Ruins National Monument entrance fees will be waived for this program.  Unique junior ranger badge and certificate will be awarded and documentary videos showing throughout the day.  At 6pm a representative from National Geographic and the geotourism expert, Jonathan Tourtellot, will give a program discussing myths about World Heritage. A limited number of commemorative coins will be distributed for this event.

Using high tech wizardry, Arc Attack presents an electrifying performance with two custom Tesla coils that throw out electrical arcs up to 12 feet long, as well as live instruments that produce rock, electonica and indie with a splash of punk and a dash of metal served with a side of pop. THE MASTER WEAVERS
This exhibit of Todalena/Two Grey Hills textiles will be on display through May 2013 at the Historic Toadlena Trading Post and Weaving Museum. This authentic 102 year-old trading post supports the local weaving community and this exhibition showcases the best of their efforts, both past and present. ECLIPSING MESA VERDE
Join a Mesa Verde National Park ranger to witness an unusual annular eclipse of the sun.  Mesa Verde is in the region where there should be good viewing the “ring of Fire,” weather permitting.  The eclipse will occur as the moon crosses in front of the sun.  The resulting shadow that falls upon the Earth will race across the Western US at over 1000mph.  A special public presentation will be offered at the Navajo Canyon Overlook, on the Mesa Top Loop Road, from 6 p.m. to 8:30p.m.  The appearance of the “ring of fire” will occur at approximately 7:30 p.m.  Solar scope will be available and special viewing glasses will be provided.  Everyone viewing this event MUST have appropriate eye protection.  Sunglasses do not provide sufficient protection.  The last time an annular solar eclipse was seen in the contiguous U. S. was in 1994.

THREE WATERS TRADING POST EXHIBIT
The Three Waters Trading Post exhibit features a walk-through replica of a 1930’s trading post, including a bull pen stocked with period goods and artifacts, pawn room and office showcasing jewelry and rugs. THE MASTER WEAVERS
This exhibit of Todalena/Two Grey Hills textiles will be on display through May 2013 at the Historic Toadlena Trading Post and Weaving Museum. This authentic 102 year-old trading post supports the local weaving community and this exhibition showcases the best of their efforts, both past and present. The show also celebrates the long awaited publication of the highly acclaimed book of the same title, The Master Weavers, by Toadlena trader, Mark Winter. Toadlena’s history is steeped in the past with an eye on maintaining the region's weaving tradition well into the future. TURKEY TROT & GOBBLE WOBBLE
This event features a 5K Turkey Trot and a 2 Mile Gobble Wobble Walk at 9 a.m. in Historic Downtown Farmington.  Registration deadline is November 15th.  This family friendly event will include activities such as children’s carnival, games, face painting, a kids gobble contest, music and more.  Participate in a Turkey Trot and Gobble Wobble costume contest!  Enter individually or as a group.  This is an all weather event, plan to participate rain or shine.

FROM DINOSAURS TO DRILL BITS
This exhibit highlights the oil and gas story of the San Juan Basin. Using the latest in technology this exhibit educates and entertains visitors about an amazing resource we use every day. Experience the thrill of riding deep into the earth in search of oil on a simulated ground quaking adventure! Learn what it takes to drill thousands of feet looking for black gold, then discover how it's transformed into consumer products. THREE WATERS TRADING POST EXHIBIT
The Three Waters Trading Post exhibit features a walk-through replica of a 1930’s trading post, including a bull pen stocked with period goods and artifacts, pawn room and office showcasing jewelry and rugs. The exhibit is on display at the Farmington Museum in the Gateway Park Museum & Visitors Center, 3041 E. Main St., Farmington.

THE MASTER WEAVERS
This exhibit of Todalena/Two Grey Hills textiles will be on display through May 2013 at the Historic Toadlena Trading Post and Weaving Museum. This authentic 102 year-old trading post supports the local weaving community and this exhibition showcases the best of their efforts, both past and present. The show also celebrates the long awaited publication of the highly acclaimed book of the same title, The Master Weavers, by Toadlena trader, Mark Winter. Toadlena’s history is steeped in the past with an eye on maintaining the region's weaving tradition well into the future. BIRD WATCHING RIVERSIDE NATURE CENTER
Enjoy bird watching and a beautiful walk through Farmington’s riverside trails every Tuesday morning. More than 100 species of birds have been noted throughout Animas Park and new birds fly in each season. Meet at the Riverside Nature Center, located in Animas Park off Browning Parkway, to join the friendly RNC staff for leisurely walk of 1-2 miles.

HOLIDAY ART WALK
Come walk through Historic Downtown Farmington, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and celebrates the season with art receptions and open houses at many downtown locations.  A wide variety of art from regional artists will be showcased throughout many of the downtown shops, galleries and restaurants. Art Walk maps will be available at participating locations. The Art Walk is coordinated by the Farmington Downtown Association and sponsored by Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs.

ANNUAL AUDUBON CHRISTMAS BIRD COUNT
The Riverside Nature Center takes part in this nationwide project which has been carried out for over 100 years.  From 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., come spend part or all of the day counting all the birds, common and rare, in their wintering grounds throughout the Farmington area.

CHACO CANYON CHRISTMAS BIRD COUNT
Join volunteers from the Four Corners Bird Club and the Riverside Nature Center in making winter census of the birds at Chaco Canyon National Monument.  Participants should be experienced birders and able to hike in back country areas in winter weather.

LIVE NAVAJO NATIVITY
