MARCH 4 – APRIL 16
ANNUAL MARCH PHOTO SHOW
Visit the Riverside Nature Center, in Animas Park off Browning Parkway, for this annual exhibit of pictures taken in Animas and Berg Parks.  Scenery, wildlife, events, still life, people, and pets are just some of the subjects in this display of works by many photographers, professional and amateur.  Meet the photographers at a public reception on March 21 from 2pm to 4pm.

NANO DAYS

Join the E3 Children’s Museum & Science Center on the move in the National Celebration to explore the world of the miniscule with Nano Days! Activities will explore the unfamiliar and future applications of nanoscale science and engineering through hands-on activities and nanoscale games.  Families with children age 5 and older are invited to drop in.  Activities will be held at the following facilities:

  • April 2 - Riverside Nature Center

SAN JUAN COLLEGE CONTEST POW WOW

San Juan College and the Native American Center present the San Juan College Contest POW WOW. The Pow Wow will take place at the McGee Park Coliseum (San Juan County Fairgrounds Hwy. 64).

SPRING ART WALK
In Historic Downtown Farmington, coordinated by the Farmington Downtown Association, and sponsored by Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs.  Come Downtown from 5pm to 9pm and celebrate the season of beauty with art receptions and open houses at many Downtown locations.  While you’re downtown to appreciate the art, take some time to enjoy all that Downtown Farmington has to offer.  Art Walk maps will be available at any of the participating downtown locations.

JAZZ FESTIVAL

Festival begins at 7:30 p.m. in the San Juan College Performance Hall. Tickets will be $15 for adults and $12 for students and seniors.

TY WAYBOURN RODEO

Admission to this memorial rodeo is $10 for adults and $5 for children under the age of 12. Rodeo held at the McGee Park Coliseum. Adult tickets are $8 if purchased in advance at Aztec Feed Store or Bloomfield Feed Store.

CROWNPOINT RUG AUCTION

300-400 hand woven Navajo rugs are auctioned off at this monthly auction sponsored by the Crownpoint Rug Weavers Association. Rug viewing takes place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Auction begins at 7 p.m. Auction held at the Crownpoint Elementary School (72 miles south of Farmington on Hwy. 371)

SPRING-EGG CITEMENT ANNUAL EGG HUNT

Celebration begins at 11:30 a.m. at Salmon Park in Bloomfield. Hunt is for children ages 3 years old to 5th grade. Bags will be provided for all participants to fill with eggs.

"AMERICAN IDOLS"

San Juan Symphony celebrates American heroes, in this performance. “American Idol”. An American hero can be a mischievous rascal or even a real-life outlaw, a baseball star or a young girl who's lost her way. American Idols are gutsy and resourceful - distinctly American. Set to equally inventive American music, these timeless stories entertain us, and always bring us home. The San Juan Symphony will unveil the stories of Billy the Kid, Casey at Bat, Mark Twain, Through the Looking Glass and The Wizard of Oz. April 17: 7:30 p.m., Community Concert Hall, Durango. CAREER EXPO IX

From 10am to 4pm, visit with over 100 local and national businesses in the Exhibit Halls at the Farmington Civic Center. Network, make job contacts, meet and speak directly with employers, submit resumes and applications to interested employers, and participate in free workshops on financial literacy with 1st Financial Credit Union.

SAN JUAN COUNTY SENIOR OLYMPICS
The Senior Olympics start on April 21 with the Basketball Free Throw at the Farmington Recreation Center and will finish with the Awards Picnic at the Bonnie Dallas Senior Center on May 21.  Pick up calendar of events for events and times and applications for participation at any Senior Center in San Juan County.

LIVE HORSE RACING AT SUNRAY PARK & CASINO

Race days are Thursdays – Sundays. Post time is 2:15 p.m. Simulcast horse racing year-round. Sunray Park & Casino is located off Hwy. 64, between Farmington and Bloomfield, in front of the McGee Park Coliseum.

EARTH DAY AT AZTEC RUINS

Aztec Ruins National Monument will hold its second annual Earth Day Celebration from 10am to 3pm. The theme this year is Web of Life. Admission is free. The Ruins is also looking for volunteers to help plan and run the event. Click here to learn more.
