24TH ANNUAL MUSIC IN THE MOUNTAINS FESTIVAL
Music in the Mountains celebrates its 24th Festival season featuring orchestra, chamber music and conservatory performances of classical and world music. Gregory Hustis, Guillermo Figueroa, and Arkady Fomin assemble renowned musicians to perform in spectacular venues in Durango and Pagosa Springs, Colorado.

FARMINGTON GROWERS' MARKET
Visit this local market for the freshest most flavorful fruits and vegetables available! Local Farmers and Growers fill the lot with their fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, eggs, meats, plants and cut flowers. Market is held at the Gateway Park Museum and Visitor Center, 3041 E. Main in Farmington and is held Saturdays (beginning July 10) from 8am to 11am and Tuesdays (beginning July 20) from 4:30pm to 7pm until the second week of October or the first freeze.

SUMMER BLOW OUT
For the last three weeks of summer, swim any day of the week during any public session for any age swimmer at the Farmington Aquatic Center for only $3! Public sessions are from 1pm to 4pm and 4:30pm to 7:30pm.

OPENING HELEN'S TRUNK
This interactive exhibit at the Farmington Museum features six women artists and a turn-of-the-century trunk. It explores questions of identity, legacy, and what it means to be a creator of art in connection with a larger society. The show features a variety of media, including film, writing, music, photos, textiles, sculpture, and personal treasures that, together, weave a community of art. Visitors are invited to collaborate by adding their own art, stories and responses. Exhibit on display until October 15, 2010.

CONNIE MACK PARADE
Parade will begin at 11:30 a.m. The parade route is through Historic Downtown Farmington along Main Street. Team pictures will be taken at Ricketts Park immediately following the parade. Prints will be available for purchase.

CONNIE MACK WORLD SERIES
Some of the best amateur baseball in the Country is featured each summer at Ricketts Park in Farmington. Teams from the U.S. and Puerto Rico play in front of pro-scouts and college officials. Festivities aside from the games include a parade and Home Run Derby. Opening Ceremonies held August 6, after the 5:15 p.m. game and before the 8:00 p.m. game. General Admission tickets are available at the ticket booth on a game by game basis only. The ticket booth is open one hour prior to game time. These seats are first come, first serve only.

"EAST MEETS WEST"

SPLIT WILLOW ANIMALS
Small animals made by folding and wrapping split willow wands have been found in archaeological sites thousands of years old. Come to the Riverside Nature Center, 1pm to 3pm, to try your hand at this ancient craft, using willow cuttings from Animas Park, and take home your own creation. Some patience is required at first, so this is recommended for people 10 and older.

CONNIE MACK HOME RUN DERBY
One player from each of the 10 competing Connie Mack teams will compete to see who can hit the most home runs at Ricketts Park. The winner will receive a trophy. Begins at 3:00 p.m.

SAN JUAN COUNTY FAIR
Largest county fair in New Mexico; Features livestock shows, exhibits, fiddlers contest, a parade, arts & crafts booths and more. The fair is held at the San Juan County Fair Grounds/McGee Park, ( Hwy. 64 between Farmington and Bloomfield).

CROWNPOINT RUG AUCTION
300-400 hand woven Navajo rugs are auctioned off at this monthly auction sponsored by the Crownpoint Rug Weavers Association. Rug viewing takes place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Auction begins at 7 p.m. Auction held at the Crownpoint Elementary School (72 miles south of Farmington on Hwy. 371).

PINON HILLS COPULES FIESTA
This tournament attracts players from all over! Pinon Hills Golf Course is hosting this annual Couples Fiesta tournament, open to the first 40 couples that enter. On Friday, August 20th entrants will enjoy a practice round, complete registration and attend a cocktail party at the Courtyard by Marriott. The two-day tournament on Saturday and Sunday includes a Mexican Fiesta Dinner on Saturday and lunch on Sunday. The entry deadline is Tuesday, August 17th at 5pm.

MOONLIGHT WALK
The river parks are especially beautiful in the evening, so join us at the Riverside Nature Center on this walk by the light of the moon. We hope to see deer and nocturnal animals on this two-mile stroll along the woodland trails and sparkling river from 8pm - 9:30pm. Dress for cool evening weather, and bring a flashlight, but you probably won’t need it, as the moon will be our illumination. All ages are welcome, but children should be old enough to understand walking silently. No pets, please.

PHOTO EXHIBIT "WETLANDS BIRDS AT MORGAN LAKE"
Come to the Riverside Nature Center to see this photo exhibit by Tim Reeves titled “Wetlands Birds at Morgan Lake.” Dr. Tim Reeves has kept a photographic record of the birds for the past year and has found some which have never before been recorded in San Juan County. The exhibit also provides information on the habitat and food requirements of the birds, which rely on our wetlands. Come meet Dr. Tim Reeves at the reception on Sunday, September 19th from 2pm to 4pm.

BUTTERFLY WALK
Come to the Riverside Nature Center from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and learn about butterflies and other insects on this “catch and release” walk of about a mile in Animas Park. Learn what plants attract butterflies, what their caterpillars need as food, and how to identify some of our common species. We provide nets and containers for temporarily observing our insect discoveries. This is a program for all ages. Dress for the weather and for walking off the trails through tall grass.
