Swimming

Farmington Aquatic Center, kids play areaFarmington Aquatic Center, a year-round facility offering an indoor Olympic-sized pool, one 3-meter and two 1-meter diving boards, a children's play area and a 150-foot double loop water slide. 1151 N. Sullivan, (505) 599-1167.

Tennis/Racquetball

There are 25 lighted courts at the sports complex in Farmington.  The jewel of the tennis facilities is the national award winter, the tennis complex with eight lighted courts and a pro shop open from Memorial Day to Labor Day.  The courts are available year round.  The Pro Shop is supervised by a USPTA certified teaching pro and the facility is staffed from 8am-10pm.  Seven days a week including holidays.  Services are provided such as professional instruction, racquet stringing and Price Racquet products.  For more information or to schedule the tennis courts please call (505) 325-7936.

The Farmington Recreation Center, located at 1100 Fairgrounds Road, offers five racquetball courts, available for hourly reservations or drop-ins Monday through Saturday.  Wally ball courts, kids programs, as well as a full size gym, are also available.  Come by the Recreation Center and have some fun while you visit.  For more information please call (505) 599-1184 or visit www.fmtn.org

 

Water Sports

Forty-five miles east of Farmington on NM 511 is Navajo Lake State Park , which offers 150 miles of shoreline. Boating and water skiing are popular here, and the lake provides good fishing for trout, salmon, bass, northern pike, catfish, and crappie. Two concessionaire-operated marinas offer boat slips, fishing and boating supplies, and house boat and ski boat rentals. Morgan Lake offers fantastic windsurfing in 75-degree water year-round. The 1200-acre lake is 15 miles west of Farmington on Hwy. 64. Swimming is not permitted. Picnic facilities are available. Fishing permits are issued by the Navajo tribe at (928) 871-6451.

 

Recreational Equipment Rentals

The Outdoor Program at San Juan College rents a variety of camping and sporting equipment including tents, backpacks, sleeping bags, stoves, whitewater rafts, windsurfers, canoes, cross country skis, snowshoes and much more. Adventure based trips and classes are run throughout the year and are open to anyone.
