Set up over 100 years ago to promote trade with the Native Americans, trading posts still provide gasoline and staple foods, as well as locally-produced rugs, jewelry, pottery and baskets. Trading posts and pawn shops that deal with the Indian artists are scattered throughout the area.
The trading posts listed are members of the Farmington Convention and Visitors Bureau. For a complete listing call (800) 448-1240.
