OHV/ATV Trails
Farmington offers innumerable trails and diverse landscapes perfect for a variety of motorized activities year round. Local riders and OHV enthusiasts from across the U.S. have enjoyed the trails surrounding Farmington for more than 40 years. A wide variety of terrain is offered to riders; presenting sandy arroyos, large sand dunes, steep hills and challenging slick rock.
Dunes OHV Area
Highway 371
1.5 Miles South of Farmington
Over 800 acres of fun is waiting for off-road enthusiasts at the Dunes Vehicle Recreation Area south of Farmington. This OHV area has been created by over 40 years of off-road vehicle use.
- Activities: OHV, Motorcycle, Mountain Bike, Hiking and backpacking
- Terrain: large sand dunes, steep to gentle hillsides, sandy arroyo
- Facilities: A vault toilet is provided for public use at bottom of the recreation area
- Located: 1.5 miles south of Farmington on Hwy. 371
- Note: Ride only in areas open to use. Private property and tribal land sit adjacent to the Dunes Vehicle Recreation Area.

Glade Run Recreation Area
Glade Run Recreation Area is comprised of 19,000 acres of sandy arroyos, slick rock and rolling terrain. Rock crawling is a popular activity throughout Farmington, NM and the Glade.
The recreation area is split into two off-highway vehicle use zones. The northern three-quarters of the Glade are for limited trail use and 3,800 acres on the south end are managed as an open OHV area. Approximately 42 miles of marked trails for motorized trail bike and mountain bike riders are located in the limited OHV portion of the Glade.
- Activities: Biking, hiking, horseback, OHV.
- Terrain: Trails of challenging slick rock and wide sandy washes. The rock crawling terrain has boulders, slickrock, mountain foothills, rock piles and mountain trails.
- Facilities: None. Restrooms and drinking water are not available.
- Location: The recreation area lies between NM State Highways 170, 574, and 516 with multiple entry points on dirt roads.
